Baby boomer nails: step by step guide

With the following instructions, you too can create the baby boomer look on your fingernails with ease:

Step 1) Preparation

If there are still remnants of the old nail polish on your nails, they must of course be removed first. For this purpose, an acetone-free nail polish remover is recommended. While actetone-containing removers do not remove the cuticle dry out and lead to brittle nails, an acetone-free nail polish remover contains caring substances and thus cleans your nails as gently as possible.

In order to create a naturally groomed look, it may also be necessary to remove excess cuticle nail polish to be removed. For particularly easy handling has Mr. Fuss has developed a special emollient. You simply pluck some absorbent cotton into shape, place it on your fingertip and add a little solution. Then press on the cotton so that the skin shows through. Lean back for a moment, remove the absorbent cotton, slide your cuticle gently and the skin is already removed. Now quickly wash your fingers and you can move on to the next step.

Step 2) Shape the nails

If you would like to shorten your nails strongly in advance, a nail nipper is recommended. It shortens the nail more gently than nail scissors, you need to give your file not demand too much and save some time. When clipping, however, leave one to two millimeters more than desired. This allows you to shape your nails in a relaxed manner afterwards.

To shape the nails, you should file steadily in one direction. Also make sure that you do not place the nail file too high in order to avoid unsightly cracks. By the way, wide nails look particularly good in an oval shape, while narrow nails look great in an angular look.

Step 3) Apply nail base coat

Now it's time to apply the nail polish! First, you need a good base. By starting with a base coat, you'll even out small imperfections, avoid discoloring your nails, and the colored polish will adhere better. Let the base coat dry patiently for a beautiful final result.

Step 4) Apply base color

Now you may apply the your base color. The most important thing is that it is opaque. A beautiful nude shade or a soft pink will give your fingernails a particularly natural look.

Step 5) Lacquer French tip

Now brush the French tip of the nail with the white polish. Make sure not to paint too much area white, because the polish will be distributed in the direction of the nail bed in the next step.

Step 6) Conjure up a gradient with the sponge

Before the polish dries, take your sponge. Now dab (never brush) the white polish a little towards the nail bed until a blurred transition is created.

Tip: To strengthen the gradient, you can brush on some polish at the tip of the nail.

Step 7) Apply top coat

To help the matte look to shine now, use the first layer of your top coat. Apply it over the entire nail and let the layer dry. Then apply a second layer. It seals your nail design and provides additional shine. Et voilá! The baby boomer nails are ready.
